Maria spent years working in disability support and kept noticing the same gap again and again — participants getting hours of care delivered, but no real community to belong to between shifts.

So in 2021, she founded Freedom Disability Support to close that gap. Long before there was a building, there was a tribe — friendships that carried on between shifts, Friday night events, group dinners, and trips away that turned participants and support workers into a genuine community.

That community kept growing until it needed a home of its own. Eventually, the Freedom Hub opened in Redcliffe — not where Freedom started, but proof of what the community had built: a place where the employment, events, cooking crew, and everyday connection that already defined Freedom could finally happen under one roof.
